There were many stories as of how Terra Cataria came to be. A variety of stories state that before Terra Cataria was just a cat-head shaped planet, it used to be the head of the cosmic cat deity that endlessly traversed the vast universe.THE RULE OF THE LAND: A TALE OF LIGHT AND DARK
Like all other civilizations, Terra Cataria is no exception when it comes to the hierarchy of powers that be in their society. For the denizens of Terra Cataria, there are only two equally matched factions that have been at odds since time immemorial.
This being the Black Emperor and the White Emperor, who are both at a constant struggle for reasons unknown, except for those who are deeply involved in either faction.The White Emperor makes his home at the very heart of the city, whereas the Black Emperor resides in the shadows. Their followers and cultists do all the fighting for them with either side keen on wrestling control out of the other’s clutches. Once one of the Emperors is slain, the balance is reset, ushering a new era of peace and rebirth. The slain Emperor will then be replaced by a successor picked solely by unlikely circumstances. The selection is often done at random, with the successor receiving a crown-shaped mark on the back of his/her neck and the cycle restarts again.THE CORRUPTION
Hundreds of years have already passed, but the White Emperor has remained the same. Generations came and went, but his beauty and radiance did not fade. The Black Emperor however, has not had a successor in those years, making the old sages concerned about the balance in Terra Cataria. Something has to be done--at least before the White Emperor locates the next Black Emperor, they had to find the chosen successor.Through magic and computations, they finally found the Black Emperor asleep soundly by his mother’s side in the caravan wagon of travelling workmen and merchants. The sages took the boy and his mother, hastily telling them to escape as the White Emperor beset his warriors upon the caravan. The child’s family fell prey to the White Emperor forces as they fled the scene.Mother and child were brought to the Black Emperor cultists, who warmly opened their arms to receive them and cared for the young Emperor. The child’s mother killed herself shortly after knowing the lot her child has to carry in his lifetime. Such is a depressing state of things. Can the app art be traditional art?
Yes it can. But make sure your art is cleanly drawn and neatly rendered onto the app.I just reserved but can I change my reservation?
Yes. You may change your job and species reservation whenever, as long as you haven't submitted the app. Job changes after joining the group can still happen as long as you purchase the job change item from the shop.What kind of clothing style does the group have?
The overall theme is Fantasy/RPG. So think along the lines of medieval times or somewhere between the 16th-19th century clothing. But you can throw in some modern elements to it. Up to your creativity really.
As long as you don't go full modern / futuristic is all. Think Rune Factory Harvest Moon, Dungeons and Dragons, Log Horizon, The Dragon Prince, etc...
The character creation should have a link to general clothing ideas.Are there any kind of specific cultural influences to take into consideration or do we have free reign so long as it fits with the kind of time period and setting being fantasy?
You have free reign.What should the character's history specifically include?
Mainly, what brought them to their current occupation/situation, and if they have any idea/opinion about the reigning White Emperor. And don't forget the general backstory of the character. No need to make it very long. Just whatever you feel is comfortable to add!
P/S: If your character has a traumatic history, make sure to put TW/CW warning at the top.Can my characters have locked backgrounds?
Yes they can, granted, when you send in your join request or app check, you HAVE to link the mods the locked history to have it checked over.Can I suggest a job since I don't think my character suits any of the jobs?
Yes you can! But it would be in the mods' decision to either accept the job request or reject the job if it's deemed too unsuitable for the group.For those who take up slots of business owners, are we allowed to design the look/feel and aesthetic of the business or are things predetermined?
You may design the facilities as long as it keeps within the overall theme of the group!Do wigs exist in the setting? If so, how poor or decent of quality would they be?
They do. And as for the quality, depends on you how good you want the quality of the wig to be. You'll have the creative freedom to decide on that.
This also applies to hair/fur dye and tattoos just for your information. However, contacts are a different case. They don't exist.You say the group is Fantasy, but it's also listed as Semi-Modern? What is the modern aspect to it?
The main setting is indeed fantasy since there will still be dragons here and there. Semi-modern can also be applied to the clothing design you create for you character. But if you would like a general idea for the setting aside from just fantasy, think a mixture between Steampunk and Harry Potter.For over all regional inspiration, what common cultures would the architecture pull inspiration from?
Architecture of most buildings are mostly from late 1600-1700 Europe and Asia-wise.Will there be a Doc that keeps track of the CDs we made?
There will be a doc for the mods to use for the general tracker. A public tracker will be through the use of a discord bot, as the bot will also grant you random CDs for participating in group events over in discord.
Members are also mainly encouraged to keep track of your own CDs as well.Does this group have set opening dates? When will the next opening be once it closes?
Currently, there isn't a set date. Once the group closes, it will be open again when the group feels like it's ready for more members. Though a set opening date every 3-6 months with mini openings is being considered.

21 years and above.Since Exotic Cats and Big Cats are rare and needs a special slot to purchased to create them, how are they seen in the group's actual world? Are they also seen as rare / special by other cats?
They're mostly seen as rare but not entirely special. To compare, it's like living in Asia as a foreigner. They're still considered as normal cats in this world albeit being slightly revered for their rarity.
(Do note that this is also a fantasy group about cats. So specific ethnicity doesn't apply here. They're just cats.)For the app, is it okay to add additional pieces of art on it? Or should we stick to one full body and say not 1 full body and 1 to 3 chibi versions for outfits?
You may do as you like for the app as long as the main full body art is clearly seen and the app itself isn't altered.If we kill an OC later on or they die, do we get to replace the slot with a new OC?
If the OC dies in an event, you'll get a Revive Certificate, which you can either use to buy a new slot or to resurrect your OC. You may replace the OC with a new one with the old slot.
But this only applies to event related deaths. Deaths planned and happen outside of events are permanent and you would have to purchase a new slot for them. This is so that we can avoid people taking advantage of simply killing of an OC to freely replace with a new one.Felida City seems to be the largest city and the closest place to the White Emperor so I was wondering, does that mean that the White Emperor's influence is stronger there but may be a bit weaker or less strict over at far away cities / villages? Or is every place the same in that regard?
Yes, the White Emperor's influence is stronger in Felida City and close towns / villages. The White Emperor's reach is limited in other far-off towns, but he has eyes there so he still has an idea whats up.
The places his gaze cant reach is the Sea Ear and beyond and within the Cats'eyeWhat cities are under which emperors rule?
All towns and villages are under the rule of the White Emperor. (Except for Cattail Village. They're more or less neutral and on their own but they respect the White Emperor.)
The closer a town or village is to Felida City, the more power and influence the White Emperor has over it.What is the equivalent of churches in this universe? You know how if a baby is given up, they're dropped off at a church and then raised there by the service-people of the church? Is there an equivalent of that in this universe?
There's Cataria Temple. The biggest church equivalent. And there are also orphanages around just so you know.In terms of technology and advancements, how are things in the setting of TC? Is it candle light / Paper and oil lanterns? Is there basic electricity?
For technology, think a little on steampunk? But instead of the machines powered by steam, it's powered by magic. But there can be some steam machines powered by steam for those who oppose to magic and or can't afford magic cores for their machines. But mainly the "technology/electricity" is powered by magic.
There might be inventors to invent actual electricity, but right now, there's none.
There's also a higher occurrence of magic and tech usage in Felida as compared to far-off towns, though there are some who practice magic around Kitty Village and dwellers of Cataria templeIs communications pen and paper only aside from face to face?
Communications for common folk is mainly pen and paper, and face to face. But there are magical ways of communicating too. But to have magical means is rather expensive.And as far as medical goes, is it rudimentary and herbal based or some science backing things up?
It's about 50/50? For the case of hospitals they would have both herbal and mix of slightly modern medicine through science/alchemy. There's also healing magic, but healing magic is rare and those with those kinds of magic ended up being high ranking priest / priestess / royal healers, etc... Either at the palace or churches.Are there any regulations regarding pets?
Nope. You can have small simple and exotic household pets around as long as you don't go overboard with them. Just no magical creatures, or magically imbued creatures.
Oh and dogs. We have other plans for dogs.Do merchants have just little stalls, caravans, or do they have a more permanent building they sell out of?
They mainly set up stalls in Merchant's Alley in Felida City (since all the action and RP will happen there). They can have/own caravans with one or two horses too if they tend to travel around to other towns and villages every now and then.What type of plants grow in this region? Are there any exotic/magic plants that only grow in this world? Or just your standard lil happy shrubs and roots?
For now, I don't think we've planned for any exotic/magic plants. So stick to standard plants, until further information.What is Catnip like in this world?
The presence of catnip is both as medicine and an important ingredient for magic, at least for non factional magic for common characters. Catnip is often administered in tea form, or the shredded leaves included in some cuisines all over Terra Cataria.
And yes Catnip candy is a concentrated form of it that grants common characters some magical powers. Its a relaxant/sedative similar to RL over the counter painkillers.
The same applies to silvervine which is a more potent than catnip.Can we design new outfits for characters willingly or do they need to be purchased?
You can design your OC's clothes freely as long as it sticks to the theme of the group and as long as it doesn't change your character's look drastically!

Character Creation

  • Characters have to be feline gijinkas, meaning humanoid characters with cat ears and tail

  • Characters may have other minor traits such as retractable / long claws (nails) or body patterns based off their species pattern etc

  • When designing your characters, make sure they only have cat ears. Don’t need an extra pair of human ears. Why would you need four ears?

  • Characters may have unnatural hair / fur colours (eg: pink haired leopard), but they are dyed

  • Unnatural eye colours are only allowed for certain high ranking felines serving their respective emperors. Unnatural eye colours are a form of mutation depending on the powers they have the clashing effects with their Emperor's seal. Else, normal ranking felines have common eye colour(s) according to their species or breed

  • Character outfit styles could be based solely from 16th - 19th century fashion (from any country) or a fusion of both. Feel free to add your own fantasy twist to the design.

  • Here are some general clothing ideas for inspiration

  • As stated in the Rules, please refrain from making characters that are Mary-sues or Gary-stus

  • Each breed and species have their own number of slots. Do check the reservation or masterlist to check on available slots

  • Members have the first 2 character slots for free, the first being the character you join with

  • Any 3rd character and more, needs a slot purchased from the shop

  • But the total of characters a member can have is 6

  • Starting character has to be a domestic cat

  • Big cats and exotics are rare and have to be purchased from the shop

  • Each members can only own up to two big cats and/or exotics combined

  • Pulling out a character does not mean you are able to immediately replace with a new one

  • Starting characters have to be neutral and not loyal to either faction

  • App arts HAVE to be drawn by you or commissioned and credited. Generative AI Arts are STRICTLY FORBIDDEN.

Currency

  • Currency name is Catarian Dollar. CD for short

  • Currency is earned by submitting art to the deviantART gallery or the art bank in Discord

  • Earning is counted per-character

  • Splash of colours, flat colours, and simple colouring fall under Coloured

  • Cell shading, painting, and detailed arts fall under Detailed

  • CDs can only be obtained once the art piece is submitted into the dA TC group gallery or the art bank channel in discord

  • In case of RP logs in Google Docs, you may submit the Google Doc link via the art bank channel in the discord group

  • CDs can be gifted to other members but there are certain rules:-

  • The max amount of CD you are able to gift is 50 per month (Amount may subject to change)

  • The one month cooldown does not follow the months of the year, rather, the one month gifting cooldown will take into effect once you have reached the gifting limit

  • Another easier way to earn CD is to join group RPs

  • In the future, there may be other ways for you to earn CDs

ARC 1: Completed
It all started during the Eve of the Catacomb Battle. Murders started happening which soon revealed to the White Emperor, was the Black Emperor's doing. Calm as he was, the White Emperor decided to simply leave matters to his Whiteknights to deal with as he usually did. However, this time, the Black Emperor was not like those before him.
A lie the White Emperor has spread, begun to surface and show it's true form. The Black Emperor was never dead. And never did the cycle end. The Black Emperor is alive. This made Catarians started questioning their Emperor. And along with the Black Emperor title being gossiped about, so did the name Ashrari, the leader of the Black Emperor's Assassins.
Ever since then, tragedies upon tragedies happened resulting in deaths. Most notably, attacks during festivals. Arcane fires started which prompted the deployment of even the high ranking Templar Knights and the White Emperor's mages.
But on the day of Crowning Light, a terrible revelation happened. Ashrari, the Black Emperor's top Assassin, managed to land a killing blow on the White Emperor during a public parade. However, the Emperor was still alive. And whilst every Catarianwere puzzled by the fact, nearby, a fellow Catarian exploded. Head rolling.
It was later revealed that the White Emperor had used a forbidden taboo magic to prevent his death. The White Emperor has hidden his hearts within a few of his marked followers.
When a second follower exploded after another killing blow was dealt onto the White Emperor, those bearing his mark started to panic. No Catarian knew who held the Emperor's heart.
The Black Emperor's forces had to retreat that day to look into and research on the forbidden taboo magic. The Black Emperor soon found that a certain magical item would help them detect available hearts. And with the help of the item, the Black Emperor and his forces are now determined to end this once and for all.
Day of Vigor. A day where Catarians can show off their strengths. This was the day the Black Emperor forces decided to strike. When a Catarian named Duchess went on stage as the announcer for the festival, Ashrari appeared to assassinate her in front of everyone. She was one of the White Emperor's heart holders. This started the chaos that ended it all.
Many lives ended that day. The Black Emperor's forces lost count at 11 hearts, but there was very well more than that. But once the magical items was loosing it's light, indication no more hearts were present, the Black Emperor made his move to kill the White Emperor.
And successful the Black Emperor was, thus ended the silent tyranny of the White Emperor. The Black Emperor soon decreed that the balance of power will once again return to how it was originally was with both he, the Black Emperor, and the new future White Emperor, to co-exsist.
